Let us introduce you to Marie-Laure Huet
Marie-Laure Huet from Paris is a Physical Education teacher by profession. She also has a total of 30 years experience serving the sports sector. Her sporting contribution currently lies in the running of the Racing Multi Athlon Paris a multisport club (Modern Pentathlon, Athletics, Triathlon). This came after having been invested in the Modern Pentathlon at local and regional level in France.
She has been invited to formally represent Modern Pentathlon at the National level, but had to be careful preserve her commitments to other areas of her life … A challenge many leaders in sport face.
Marie-Laure would describe herself as simultaneously managing three areas. That of her family, her sports club and her job at the school. She has recently launched an exciting project that is set to create real social change through sport. Her initiative was launched to support school leavers in achieving both sporting and academic excellence. It’s is set to grow ever more impactful in the near future.
Although the track record of female representation, especially among presidencies is poor in France- on her board at the Multisports club they have a healthy balance of men and women without the need of quotas. However, they face challenges when trying to work with other organisations. And therefore they keep highlighting the urgent need for the entire sector to push for progress in the subject of gender equality.
The harmonious and natural culture of gender equality that Marie-Laure Huet has fostered on her club’s board perhaps reflects her personal life experience. Indeed she always participated in sport as an equal to boys, whether that was playing rugby or practicing rhythmic gymnastics.
For SWinG, Marie-Laure is being mentored by Aliette Mousnier-Lompré from Orange Business, France.
