Leadership al Femminile – Le donne sanno vincere! stands for “Female Leadership – Women know how to win!” and is an initiative by CONI, the Italian National Olympic Committee.
This project had the purpose of stimulating the participation and involvement of women in sport both on and off the playing field.
Brief outline of the initiative
An agreement with the School of Sport has been made to schedule three separate seminars to give women who have different roles in the world of sport (athletes, former athletes, technicians, volunteers in sports, managers of associations , managers of competitive teams, etc …), the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the new regulatory framework and encourage the presence of women at the top of sport and its governance. Therefore it gave life to a seminar on the importance of participation and involvement of women in the world of sport. An orientation and training initiative with the aim of stimulating the presence of women in decision-making roles.
The seminars took place in Rome: 19 March 2019, Naples: 23 May 2019 and Milan: 12 September. They were informative and aimed at encouraging and consolidating the potential for leadership in favour of women who have the requisites and the desire to run for leadership positions.
CONI aims to have 33% of all positions on the council board of the 44 federations fulfilled by women in the 2020 elections.
